orang tua-tua selalu berpesan "walau dah menang berjaya tewaskan musuh, tinggalkan satu peluru kerana "takut-takut kawan yang berganding bahu adakala bertukar menjadi seteru mana tahu"...

PROTON to become official car of EURO 2012

Proton Motorsports head Datuk Abdul Razak Dawood said it was negotiating with the Ukrainian government following Proton Motorsports' appearance at the Prime Yalta Rally Ukraine in June.

"The Ukrainian government is interested in introducing Proton cars to its market and we are in negotiations with it. The first step could be for Proton to supply cars to be used as taxis and official cars for the Euro 2012 football championship.

"This shows that we are expanding our business through rallying. Everything we do is about branding and there's always a commercial consideration to it."

Proton leads the APRC drivers' and manufacturers' standings and is ranked sixth in the IRC manufacturers' standings.

Razak said the Proton Satria Neo had received an encouraging response in the Japanese market

"Previously, it was unthinkable that Proton cars could be sold in Japan. But, now, people there see the Satria Neo as a highly reliable and affordable car to convert to a rally car."

He said Proton was ready to launch new cars in Europe that meet stringent safety standards.

The Proton Motorsports Rally Team, he said, introduced the Proton band through rallying.

"Even reviewers like Jeremy Clarkson, who tested the Proton Satria Neo S2000 for his Top Gear show on British television, seemed to approve of Proton cars.

"This is a reviewer who's had nothing good to say about Proton or Perodua cars before. So, this shows that we are coming up with better products that we can globalise.

"We're bringing the Malaysian brand abroad. We're not being jaguh kampung (local ace) any more.

"So, we hope other Malaysian companies join us. We can offer massive promotional platforms via IRC and APRC."source : motoring.asiaone.com

Telcos and Banks told to step up security

single
Ba
nks and telecommunication companies were yesterday advised to beef up their security measures after police uncovered yet another Internet banking scam involving foreigners.

This involved "phishing" and the hijacking of subscriber identity module (SIM) cards.

Federal commercial crime department director Datuk Syed Ismail Syed Azizan said the syndicate downloaded data of bank customers and obtained the victim's new SIM card in a highly elaborate scam.

At least 12 customers of one particular bank were victims of this syndicate who lost a total of RM243,000 since early this year.

The suspects in custody are four men from Sierra Leonne, Jordan, Pakistan and a Malaysian. Three local women are also involved.

The suspect from Sierra Leonne was said to be the mastermind behind this scam. He is a graduate in computer science from a local collage. The Jordanian is studying civil engineering while the Pakistani is on a social visit pass.

The seven were nabbed at the upmarket condominium in Millenium Square, Petaling Jaya, on Sept 9.

Syed Ismail said the mastermind downloaded a software which enabled the syndicate to collect data of bank customers through the bank's kiosks, using only a thumb drive.

Once the information was obtained, including the victim's handphone number, the syndicate would produce a false police report, which would be submitted to the telecommunication company (telco) concerned, for a replacement SIM card.

The syndicate would also have an authorisation letter from the "victim", with a photostat copy of the culprit's identity card to enable him/her to receive the SIM card.

Meanwhile, the syndicate would call the victim and tell them that they would experience technical difficulties with their line for several hours.

"This is when the syndicate will strike. Using the SIM card, they will produce a new Transaction Authorisation Code which they would use to access the account and clean it up.

"And when the bank sends a text message to the account holder asking for confirmation of the transaction, the syndicate would receive the message and okay the transaction. The victim would not know that his account had been cleared out until very much later."

Police set up a special team to track down this syndicate. For the past two months they kept several members of this group under surveillance.

Police raided the condo last Friday and seized several computer sets, bank account books, laptops, thumb drives, identification cards, false police reports, router and adapters, credit cards and several other documents.

RADIATION

1. When X-Ray was first discovered it was used extensively in medicine. X-Rays were taken of the human body to detect diseases. Medical assistants and doctors operate X-Ray machines quite oblivious to the dangers from radiation. 2. After many years it was found that X-Rays cause certain diseases and affect fertility. Now when an X-Ray is taken, the radiologists stay outside the X-Ray room.
3. But we still use the X-Ray on patients because the effect of radiation is only felt when exposure is continuous or very frequent as with the staff in the X-Ray room. I was X-rayed many times during treatment for my heart and lungs.

4. I am against nuclear power plants because nuclear material once activated cannot be reversed. The nuclear wastes keep on radiating harmful rays for a million years. There is no really safe way to dispose them.
5. During the time when I was PM, we had problems with activated tin mining waste or amang, used for colour TV. We had to bury the waste in thick concrete deep in the ground. Now colour TV use plasma or LED and they produce practically no radiation.
6. However, there is now no more radiation at the site where the activated amang was buried. It is now safe to live on the site.
7. Chernobyl is near the Ukrainian capital Kiev.
8. Although the Chernobyl nuclear plant is still dangerous, Kiev is quite safe from the radiation emanating from the damaged nuclear power plant. The level of radiation is very low.
9. There was fear of Tokyo being affected by the accident to the Fukushima nuclear plant. But the radiation level in Tokyo is reported to be quite insignificant. Tokyo is safe.
10. Clearly the danger from radiation is dependant on the intensity of the rays and the duration of exposure. We are all exposed to some radiation from the sun, but it is not harmful.
11. The question is whether the Lynas plant for processing rare earth is a dangerous source of radiation. There are such plants in many countries where rare earth is processed for use in batteries and magnets. There have been no reports of radiation affecting the health of the workers or the people living in close proximity.
12. The proposed Lynas plant has been inspected by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the world authority on nuclear material. They have not reported that Lynas is a dangerous project.
13. But protests are still going on. The only conclusion one can make is that the protests are political. No matter how many investigations and studies are made the protest will go on. It is not about danger to health. It is about defeating the Government in the coming election.
14. We should be careful with radioactive material. But we should not allow political activists and non-genuine environmentalists deprive us of the economic benefits rare-earth offer through unsubstantiated scare stories.
15. Although I am still not in favour of nuclear power plants, I have nothing against the Lynas project. The Government should not be afraid to let the project to go ahead.

The Promise Me campaign by the Truly Loving Company brings 12 corporations in Malaysia together to fulfill 12 golden wishes from charity organisations, and we're proud to say that we're part of this campaign too! Our pledge: to raise funds and help the Shah Alam orphanage, Rumah Aman replace their 15 year-old electricity wiring and lightning breaker system.

Rumah Aman is an orphanage located in Shah Alam, with complete facilities to care for poor boys who are orphaned or from needy families. Despite the best efforts to maintain the facilities, it is inevitable that things will degrade due to wear and tear. The old wiring means that the home is quite susceptible to power outages during storms, and the lightning has previously caused damage to the property before. Therefore, an upgrade is urgently needed to ensure the comfort of all the children there.

And that’s where all of you come in! The upgrade from the current 2 phase electrical wiring system to a 3 phase one will cost an estimated RM 20,000, and we’ve pledged to raise this amount with the power of the Nuffnang community, and help Rumah Aman get the upgrades it needs.Every little contribution will make a real difference and you can help by either donating to the fund, or helping us to spread the word and rally for contributations to the fund!

Execution delayed-six percent service tax

as we all know, the major telecommunications companies plans to impose a service tax of six percent of users of prepaid telephone line, but the plan is now on hold after the intervention of the minister.(good news for consumer)

Minister of Information, Communication and Culture, Datuk Seri Dr. Rais Yatim said the decision was reached after a meeting with several telecommunications companies today, and studies on these charges will be made by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and communications companies involved.

As consumers we feel that telecommunication companies in Malaysia should also improve the services prior to making any increase in charges, among them the increasing network coverage, network interruptions and problems, many other problems related to the services provided is worth the charges to consumers.

cause of a car tire explodes

Chairman of the Facilities, Transportation and Growth in Pahang, Datuk Ir Mohd Soffi Abdul Razak said the use of notch tire more dangerous than the retread tires.

by the way, government asked to review the use of notch tires and winter tires from foreign countries, which claimed to be one of the causes of road accidents.

He said gaining notch tires for cheaper than new tires due to the increase in rubber prices in world markets over the years.

"I would like to advise motorists not to use this type of tire as vulnerable and explosive, because the layers of the tire is too thin when tapped to make new flowers.

"The road geometric and temperature in the summer we will facilitate the explosive notch tires if driven above the speed limit," he told reporters after Aidil Fitri open house the Legislative Assembly (DUN) Benta at Rest and Recreation area near here today .

Mohd Soffi, and member Legislative Assembly Benta said, other than tires notch, he said, the popularity of winter tires also contributed to the accident.

"The use of winter tires brought in from Europe, Japan, the United States and South Korea are also gaining the vehicle owners as the prices are cheap.-BERNAMA

objected six percent of prepaid taxes

Average pre-paid service users today expressed dissatisfaction on the government to approve telecommunications companies impose a 6 percent tax on consumers.

Secretary-General of the Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM), Datuk Dr. Ma'amor Osman said, the tax is seen much less burdensome to consumers who call charges apply when this is expensive.

"The decision was unreasonable, and we object to implementation. During this time, if we make a call and not answer, they are charged, much less to introduce service tax.

Meanwhile, the Consumers Association of Subang Jaya and Shah Alam (Cassa) asked the government to freeze the implementation of such measures.
Its president, Datuk Dr. Jacob George said, the introduction of the tax is not relevant to the current economic situation, which saw low-income people are still struggling to adapt to the rising cost of other goods.

"We are very sad because the industry is only seen from one view only, ie to increase their profits without regard to the fate of consumers.

"So far, the companies have reaped not only by 15 million locals but also from more than four million foreign workers in the country who use their services.

"Is all of that is no longer enough to want to push users and the people of this country is," he said.

He said if the decision is maintained, Cassa will work with consumer associations and other NGOs to launch a boycott campaign on a large scale.

This step by government is not appropriate at this time plus the current economic situation is less favorable, while prices of other essential items has add to burden consumers.
