Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be the first witness to testify in his defense at the trial stage of sodomy involving a former personal assistant, Mohd. Saiful Bukhari Azlan at the High Court here from August 8.
Counsel Sankara Nair told this to reporters after Judge Datuk Mohamad Zabidin Mohd. Diah set the trial date continued from that date to 26 August.
According to the lawyer, the ministry would file an application next week to seek an order that the prosecution brought witnesses to court to be interviewed by the defense before they decide which witnesses will be called at the defense.
On 16 May, Leader of the Opposition is ordered to defend themselves after a court found the prosecution had a prima facie case on the charges.
Judge Mohamad Zabidin made the decision after examining all the evidence in the prosecution's witnesses and argued that Mohd. Saiful Bukhari as the main prosecution witness was a true witness and his testimony is reliable
