broadband penetration boost 70 percent

"A total of 11.198 units 1Malaysia laptops allocated to Selangor for the second phase compared to 4.500 in the first phase in an effort to increase broadband penetration.
Deputy Director of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) Central Region Division, hairudin Mohd. Zin said the rate was faster than the set target of 75 percent in 2015.

The distribution of laptops in Selangor 1Malaysia entering the second phase in May helped to achieve the broadband penetration rate was 71.3 percent in the state until this month.

"Distribution is focused on disadvantaged students, particularly from government and government aided schools without broadband subscriptions," he said at the handing over of the computer at Lucky Hills Golf Club here today.

Also present were Member of Parliament for Hulu Selangor, P. Kamalanathan and State Assemblyman (Assemblyman) Kuala Kubu Baru, Wang Koon Mun.

A total of 1.588 students from 16 secondary schools in the Hulu Selangor received 1Malaysia laptop computers at the event.
